Produced bi-annually, Relief brings together artists, writers and curators who can be defined more broadly as aesthetic practitioners; the overarching theme of Relief is to address the requirement of the political within the ambiguous space between making and displaying. Issue 1 is based around the idea of ‘class’, a theme that is actually rarely addressed with any real clarity especially when thought of in terms of aesthetics. The invited contributors for the issue are: Florian Auer, Hayley Dixon, Damian Griffiths, Hedwig Houben, Jonathan Miles, Fay Nicolson, Christodoulos Panayiotou and Hannah Sawtell.
