About this book
This document is an introduction by Gustav Landauer to the second edition of his book “Call to Socialism” published in 1911. In it, he summarizes that capitalism has not transformed peacefully into socialism as hoped, and war and revolution were inevitable. The political revolution in Germany is now complete, but constructing the new economy and institutions will be challenging. Marxism alone is not sufficient and spirit must lead the way. True socialism cannot be imposed from above but must be built from below through love, work and community.
